Pizza Shark Commercial
In theme with our readings this week, I have chosen a local Pizza shop with a great commercial targeting a wide variety customer base. Its bright happy colors in combination with the animation of the commercial itself make it a great target for families with children. This is a commercial I’ve seen many times watching Celtics games and always get a kick out of. I think having this commercial airing at a time when more people, especially families with children, will likely be watching is a smart choice. The catchy jingle, which I admit to singing or humming to many times, is also a great way to connect with their target audience. This ad is also a good target for adults looking for a pizza place with a view, like the lake mentioned, a pizza place that isn’t stuffy or just a grab-and-go place, showing their versatility in the consumers they serve.
Their ad does a good job of making an emotional connection in the humor of their ad, making their target audience more likely to do business with them. This ad also does a good job of separating itself in a crowded food industry market, especially with a pizza restaurant, by having a more chill and relaxed atmosphere. Where so many pizza companies are more focused on showing their finely crafted ingredients, multi-purpose adult and family-friendly atmosphere, or a quick service atmosphere. Pizza Shark stands out not just with its unique and easy-to-remember name due to its originality but with an ad that it’s hard to forget that gives its target consumer a feeling of comfort.
Chapter 10, talks about how having new products from the same company, sometimes even under a different name, can spark curiosity for all consumers. While this isn’t a new product, I think the use of their location of being near a lake and using the fact that sharks aren’t in lakes but for their pizza, there are sharks in the lake is a funny and smart approach to using something “new” to market their company. Chapter 10 also talks about the importance of how a company markets its products and services, and Pizza Shark excels in marketing themselves as well as their product and services differently while keeping cost in mind as mentioned in Chapter 11.
