Budweiser | Super Bowl LVIII Old School Delivery
Javier in Frame | Google Pixel SB Commercial 2024
For my blog post this week I was really stuck between well a lot of Superbowl Ads, cause I like a lot of them this year, but especially the two listed above so I’ve decided to write about both of them.
In the Budweiser ad, I like how the company chose to tie itself to its original roots and use that to connect with the consumer. I think it uses the very relatable problem of a power outage and a snowstorm, something we especially know well here in New England, and adds a lot of depth to their commercial. I also like the way they chose to show perseverance and unity in people from different backgrounds connecting, like the bartender and the farmer. I think this a really inspirational message that will get consumers and even non-consumers thinking positively about their company, making consumers and possible consumers see Budweiser as more than just a beer company but a company that truly cares about humanity. I know for me personally, while I don’t like beer, I love things that are vintage, old-fashioned, and traditional-looking so that’s what appeals to me about this ad the most.
Google also does well with showing to care about humanity. Their ad does an excellent job depicting a problem a lot of people who either don’t experience or know someone who experiences blindness or vision issues to this severity would understand. I know for me when I saw this ad, I never even thought about this issue and solution with technology because it’s not something that’s personally impacting me or anyone I know in my life. Which is why I think ads like these are so important to, one raise awareness of things people might not know about or think of but to also show people experiencing this issue that there are solutions out there for them. I love the way they show the technology being used as well as the way show how important it is in this man's life, especially in the way he connects with his family, which is another important thing this ad does well is showing how this not only impacts one person but their family and this man’s family and their story is definitely a tear-jerker.
Ultimately, I think both of these ads do a good job showcasing humanity, human nature, and problems as well as relating to their consumers or prospective consumers using emotion and people's love of old-school, homey comfort.
