Super Bowl Ad: The Servant Christian Foundation: “Love Your Enemies”

The Servant Christian Foundation: “Love Your Enemies”

The Servant Christian Foundation ads and “He Gets Us” or  “He Gets Us, All Of Us” campaign are commercials that always strike a chord with me. I like how they present religion, especially Jesus, in a way that is relatable to people today. Particularly with this ad, it really touches on the countries boiling overly political ways and how they’re becoming so much for society. I like the way they show how society has been like wild animals, not thinking before they act and only thinking mostly of themselves and their beliefs, not even considering the other person and their beliefs or considering that person to be a person.

In today’s society, people get so wrapped up in being “righteous” or “politically correct” that we don’t even stop to think if what we say, post, and do is humanly correct. This ad does a great job of illustrating that as well as illustrating why and where we can change. Nothing is solved through hate, nothing. MLK would’ve gotten nowhere with hate, he is so historically important because no matter how much he was faced with hate he chose to respond in love, love for equal humanity, not one vs another.

This “Servant Christian Foundation ad” does a great job playing on human emotion or pathos to get the audience's attention. It clearly shows why their cause is so important using the relatively scary times of our reality that are often ignored until we are forced to face it, like with this ad. I think using the song “Human" also aids in well-representing their message, we are all human. We have emotions and boiling points to those emotions and when we’re pushed out of our comfort zone our minds and bodies freak out and we often don’t know how to react. No one is perfect, and no one should be judging another on how they feel and yet it happens all the time leading to outbursts much like what was depicted. This ad really relates to how a lot of people think and feel about the political climate in America, as well as worldwide since there’s not only strife going on in our country but worldwide.

What I like most about this ad is whether or not someone is religious, “Servant Christian Foundation” makes sure not to direct their ads at just religious people or shame and guilt people who aren’t religious, like a lot of non-religious people state feeling, but relate their ads to everyone. “He Gets Us. All of Us.” includes everyone, without dividing people into groups which this country is obsessed with doing, and works to unite a world and country in need of healing.

  1. So I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting the commercial that I saw. Based on the name alone for the organization, I was expecting something that was going to present differently. As someone who did grow up in a religious setting, I expected it to be more of repenting your sins, or something that less relatable.

If people spent a little less time hating people for reasons unbeknownst to them things could be so much better. I also got from this presentation from the faces of people that "Sometimes you don't even know why you're hating."

I'm big into documentaries and there is one that explains how religious organizations got so involved with the political climate. It's really interesting. I have no problem with religion perse, or anybody that does because it's a part of my life but I find it interesting how it dominates pretty much every society and based on writings or interpretations it changes everything.

Sorry for the long post, I just found it so interesting that it wasn't what I expected!

Vistaprint: More Than Print and More than Just a Promo Ad

Vistaprint: More Than Print and More than Just a Promo Ad More Than Print   In theme with this week's readings of Chapter 18 on “ integrated marketing communications and direct marketing”, I’ve chosen Vistaprint’s “More Than Print” ad as it covers a lot of this week's reading.  Vistaprint’s “More Than Print” ad shows two men with Bostonian accents working at what looks like the Boston Celtics ProShop talking about the different products that Vistaprint offers besides business cards. Vistaprint is a company that offers a wide variety of business items from business cards, flyers, packaging, and more, as the commercial points out, but they also have way more than just needs for businesses. They also offer customizations on a variety of products for the everyday consumer such as cups and mugs, pillowcases, t-shirts, and more. This commercial does a great job of including a lot of promotional elements such as having a partnership with a well-known prestigious name lik...

Week 6: Pizza Shark

Pizza Shark Commercial    In theme with our readings this week, I have chosen a local Pizza shop with a great commercial targeting a wide variety customer base. Its bright happy colors in combination with the animation of the commercial itself make it a great target for families with children. This is a commercial I’ve seen many times watching Celtics games and always get a...

Week 12: Subaru–Dog Tested, Dog Approved-An Adorably Relatable Ad for Dog Owners or Lovers Alike

Week 12: Subaru – Dog Tested, Dog Approved-An Adorably Relatable Ad for Dog Owners or Lovers Alike   Subaru Dog Tested | Off-Roading      This Subaru commercial is very successful! It features an adorable Golden Retriever family on an off-roading adventure when one of the baby pups wants to get filthy and muddy and the littlest one in a car seat, which is precious beyond measure, seems to have no interest in being muddy or messy in any regard. So upon getting in trouble with the dad pup, the little one that wants to be messy has the window rolled up on them. This ad is successful in a lot of ways, including but not limited to, how fast it is(only 15 seconds!), the relatability for dog owners, the cuteness and tug of the heartstrings of this pup family, showcasing the durability and versatility of Subrau, making a commercial that is hard to forget with a deep connec...
