Subscription Boxes: Week 9

Subscription Boxes: Week 9

In theme with this week's reading on marketing channels and the different utilities, specifically the place and time utility of subscription boxes, which is what this week's weblog focuses on.

While I don’t personally subscribe to any subscription boxes, I know many people like them because of the time utility of having products or services when they want them. Subscription boxes are extremely diverse in the variety of boxes that exist, such as boxes for booklovers with new books based on personal interests, BarkBox for dog owners looking for new toys for their furry friends, FabFitFun with a variety of beauty, wellness, fashion, fitness, home, or tech items, and so many more. These boxes are delivered to the consumer's home, often on a day that the consumer schedules, rather than just whatever day UPS or FedEx tells you you’re receiving your package. Which is part of the time utility that makes subscription boxes so popular! That and, consumers have the ability to schedule the next delivery so that they never run out of their favorite products or services. Having products delivered to consumers' homes also fulfills the place utility. Place utility applies to subscription boxes in-home delivery but also in making sure they offer products that satisfy their customer's needs, much like form utility. An example of form utility would be constantly listening to consumer feedback to improve their products or services and delivery service, such as the delivery experience and ensuring they offer products that satisfy their customer's needs.

I think if I were to subscribe to a subscription box it would be something like BarkBox, though my dogs are very particular about their toys and well everything! I really wouldn’t subscribe to a subscription box for myself because I would be just as particular as my dogs and I don’t want to have to deal with receiving items I won’t like and then having to return them. I also don’t feel like the monthly fee that comes with subscription boxes is really worth it when you might or might not like everything you receive. I think the idea of subscription boxes is cool, I just find them to be a little pricey and hard to satisfy all my needs.

Vistaprint: More Than Print and More than Just a Promo Ad

Vistaprint: More Than Print and More than Just a Promo Ad More Than Print   In theme with this week's readings of Chapter 18 on “ integrated marketing communications and direct marketing”, I’ve chosen Vistaprint’s “More Than Print” ad as it covers a lot of this week's reading.  Vistaprint’s “More Than Print” ad shows two men with Bostonian accents working at what looks like the Boston Celtics ProShop talking about the different products that Vistaprint offers besides business cards. Vistaprint is a company that offers a wide variety of business items from business cards, flyers, packaging, and more, as the commercial points out, but they also have way more than just needs for businesses. They also offer customizations on a variety of products for the everyday consumer such as cups and mugs, pillowcases, t-shirts, and more. This commercial does a great job of including a lot of promotional elements such as having a partnership with a well-known prestigious name lik...

Week 6: Pizza Shark

Pizza Shark Commercial    In theme with our readings this week, I have chosen a local Pizza shop with a great commercial targeting a wide variety customer base. Its bright happy colors in combination with the animation of the commercial itself make it a great target for families with children. This is a commercial I’ve seen many times watching Celtics games and always get a...

Week 12: Subaru–Dog Tested, Dog Approved-An Adorably Relatable Ad for Dog Owners or Lovers Alike

Week 12: Subaru – Dog Tested, Dog Approved-An Adorably Relatable Ad for Dog Owners or Lovers Alike   Subaru Dog Tested | Off-Roading      This Subaru commercial is very successful! It features an adorable Golden Retriever family on an off-roading adventure when one of the baby pups wants to get filthy and muddy and the littlest one in a car seat, which is precious beyond measure, seems to have no interest in being muddy or messy in any regard. So upon getting in trouble with the dad pup, the little one that wants to be messy has the window rolled up on them. This ad is successful in a lot of ways, including but not limited to, how fast it is(only 15 seconds!), the relatability for dog owners, the cuteness and tug of the heartstrings of this pup family, showcasing the durability and versatility of Subrau, making a commercial that is hard to forget with a deep connec...
